NY CARMEL — Carmel Town Board settles five-year Liberty Utilities tax case and approves Netflix filming. Deputy Supervisor Frank Lombardi and Councilmen Robert Schanil and Robert Kearns unanimously authorized settlement of five lawsuits filed between 2021 and 2025 in Putnam County Supreme Court over the tax assessment of Town of Carmel Tax Map No. 54.20-1-42, with Certiorari Counsel Costello & Folchetti, LLP authorized to execute the settlement documents. The board also approved an agreement with Mesquite Productions, Inc. to allow Netflix filming at Town Hall without disrupting daily operations, following weeks of negotiation led by Councilman Kearns.
The board rescheduled a zoning law public hearing to September 2, 2026, and approved appointments of Jessica Moravec as Real Property Data Collector and Kyle Trillas as Fire Inspector.
