Carmel appoints police officer Trenton Valentine to force

NY CARMEL — The Carmel Town Board appointed police officer Trenton Valentine at a transfer rate of $72,584.00 annually, effective April 16, 2026. Chief Anthony Hoffmann praised Valentine's qualifications: Master's degree in Criminal Justice from Iona University, White Plains police officer since 2021, Field Training Officer and Juvenile Officer certifications, New York State Police Instructor status, and crisis intervention training; Valentine qualifies as a Resignation Reinstatement Transfer Officer for an abbreviated training period. The board unanimously approved settlement of a tax assessment lawsuit against WMG Owners Corp. concerning Tax Map No. 55.16-1-8.1, authorized entry into a Police Benevolent Association memorandum of agreement, extended workers' compensation wages for an employee injured September 16, 2025, and approved a second amendment to the Lead Service Line Inventory contract with J.
