NY CARMEL — Environmental Conservation Board approves tree-cutting waiver for Carmel subdivision facing state bat deadline. Vice-Chairwoman Emily Lavelle led the board with members William Fiorilli and Stephen Perrotta present to unanimously approve a waiver allowing the Kass Subdivision developer to fell 45 trees at 90 Mexico Lane, below the town's 50-tree limit, before a state-imposed March 31st deadline for Long-Eared Bat protection. The subdivision, which has received Planning Board approval, awaits Putnam County Health Department sign-off on its final plat, which is required before building permits for the septic system and well can be issued.
Board member Perrotta suggested replanting approximately 20 trees.
