Town Board · Meeting of February 18, 2026

NY CARMEL — Carmel Town Board advances four officers in police department restructuring. Chief Anthony Hoffmann recommended Detective Daniel Shea for Sergeant, Police Officer Michelle Yeager for Sergeant, Police Officer James Cook for Detective, and Detective Brian Forde for Lieutenant, citing Sergeant Christopher Fox's retirement after 22 years and Lieutenant Neil Brown's pending retirement. All four promotions passed unanimously.

The board separately adopted a zoning amendment to Chapter 156 creating permitted-use pathways for self-storage facilities and multi-family dwellings in low-density zones, though public comment focused heavily on enforcement of political sign ordinances and residential density concerns. A complementary amendment to Chapter 137 modifying senior citizen tax exemptions was tabled pending language revisions.
