Mahopac Marina Fuel Tank Application Deferred Over Setbacks
Environmental Conservation Board · Meeting of April 9, 2026
NY CARMEL — Carmel Environmental Board restricts marina fuel tank over setback violations. Applicant Charlie Melchner of Old Trolley Properties sought to install a 1,000-gallon fuel tank at 897 South Lake Boulevard but faced Chairman Robert Laga's environmental concerns: the tank location appeared only 5 feet from the lake, short of required 10-foot setbacks, and single-wall piping over water posed spill risk. The board voted unanimously to grant a Letter of Maintenance for the concrete pad only, pending applicant relocation and engineering upgrades; post-meeting review found setbacks still unsatisfied and the letter was not issued.
Separately, the board unanimously extended Veolia North America's Archer Wells Wetland Permit to May 14, 2027.
