Town Board authorizes moratorium on new multifamily dwellings in HMC zones

NY CARMEL — Town Board schedules August 5 public hearing on multifamily moratorium in HMC zones. The board unanimously approved resolutions supporting four state grant applications — a Local Waterfront Revitalization Program, Water Quality Improvement Project for dam restoration, New York KICKS Program for Airport Park improvements, and a parks and historic preservation grant program for Jimmy McDonough Park — with the town committing between 25 and 50 percent local matches. The board voted unanimously to support a New York Metropolitan Transportation Council study of Route 6 and connected roadways; Councilman Lugo stated that residents and Highway Superintendent Michael Stern are united in seeking major repairs to Routes 6, 301, and 52.
The board awarded a three-year garbage collection contract to Interstate Waste Services at $456,000 annually and unanimously appointed four town employees.
